May 8, 2007 The annual spring meeting of Tennessee Ornithological Society held in Bristol VA over the weekend was a great success! I'd like to thank Bill Grigsby and the Bristol Bird Club, for hosting and other upper east Tennessee birders, members of Lee Herndon chapter etc., for helping out with field trips. The weather Saturday was mixed and misty but everyone was treated to good birds. At the banquette Dr. Richard Peak ended his birding-around-the-world slide presentation with some interesting bird lore about his favorite local birding hot spot, Mount Rodgers. And later Ruth Luckadoo was moved to declare that the dinner was "...the best meal I have ever had at a state TOS meeting!" For Sunday field trips the weather turned crystal clear. The Roan Mountain trip I was on was well attended and most of our target birds were seen and/or heard. The highlights for me were Pine Siskind building a nest and Brown Creeper observed with nesting material, both good records for Tennessee birds.
