Very interesting article posted on-line this morning in the Royal Society's
Biology Letters. Using 1.2 g light-level geolocators, investigators tracked
tagged northern wheatears (Oenanthe oenanthe) from Alaska to their
overwintering area in sub-Saharan Africa, a distance of approximately 14,500 km
each way, requiring for some a 3,500 km crossing of the north Atlantic. This is
among the latest studies using these increasingly miniaturized tracking devices
to discover migration and dispersal behaviors at a level not previously
possible.

 Check the full report at:

wheaters" for the full text.
