I have twice heard of birds feeding goldfish at outdoor water gardens.
Seems that the fish would come up and suck at the surface of the water and
the birds assumed they were begging for food. If I recall, one of these
democratic birds was a cardinal and the other was a robin....

This was reported on television news a few years ago...
