Songbird Trail below Norris Dam (Anderson Co.)
9/22/16, 11:30am - 3:00pm:
Highlight was 2 empidonax flycatchers and 2 Philadelphia Vireos in the
same tree before a mower started back up and headed right for my spot.
American Redstart - 5
Chestnut-sided warbler - 5
Hooded warbler - 1 fem
Magnolia warbler - 5
Northern Parula - 3
Yellow-throated warbler - 1
PHILADELPHIA VIREO - 2 together (yellow wash on throat/breast and
undertail, dark lores, didn't have black borders on white eyebrow or
long shape of Red-eyed)
Red-eyed vireo - 2
White-eyed vireo - 5+
Yellow-throated vireo - 1
Empidonax flycatcher - 2 together (obvious eye-ring and wing-bars, 1 was
calling "seet" or "speet" loudly--Acadian?, didn't get much chance to
study details)
Eastern wood pewee - 3
Scarlet tanager - 1
Rose-breasted grosbeak - 3 (2m,1f together)
Catharus thrush species - 1
Ruby-throated hummingbird - 2
Red-tailed hawk - 1
Accipiter species? - 1 (something large darted down through the trees in
front of me)
