For any other night owls like me out there, there's a pretty decent
movement of thrushes and other migrating birds going on right now in west
Knox County. I just went and stood in the back yard for about five minutes
to listen to it after hearing the calls through an open window while
sitting inside the house. I heard anywhere from 2 - 15 calls per minute.
I'm not really able to discern the different species, but I heard at least
two different types of thrushes with a few mystery calls mixed in. The
experience of hearing nocturnal migration at least one time each fall is
one of my favorite experiences.
Good birding,
Angela Hoffman
