Recently I've had the good fortune to find several noteworthy nocturnal
birds at a variety of locations in northeast Tennessee. Here's a quick
summary:

Whip-poor-will: 1 at Limestone Cove Recreation Area (Unicoi County) on
May 29; 1 at intersection of Highway 107 and Jackson Bridge Road
(Washington County ) on May 29; 1 on Bear Hollow Road (northwestern
Greene County) on May 30;

Chuck-will's-widow: 5 at 5 different sites on Pilot Mountain Road
(northwestern Greene County) on May 30;

Barn Owl: 1-2 at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Shiloh Road,
Tusculum, Greene County) on May 27, 29-30.
