[TN-Bird] New Winter Wen species

Just returned from a trip to Greece and saw the posts concerning the new winter
wren species. While there, I saw the European Winter Wren and wondered if
anyone knew how that former subspecies is affected by the change. I assume
that it retains its name Troglodytes troglodytes, but just wanted to make sure.

species

Here's a note from David Sibley which just came through on the
ID-Frontiers Listserv. He has posted draft range maps on his website
for the new wren and whip-poor-will splits.

Subject: [BIRDWG01] Ranges of new Whip-poor-will and Winter Wen species

Hi All,

I've just created rough drafts of new range maps for the recently split Winter
Wrens and Whip-poor-wills and posted them at my blog www.sibleyguides.com or
direct links here:

Whip-poor-will -
http://www.sibleyguides.com/2010/08/new-draft-range-maps-for-whip-poor-will/

Winter Wren -
http://www.sibleyguides.com/2010/08/new-draft-range-maps-for-winter-wren/

I will be updating these with new information as it comes in, and I'd be
grateful for any comments. In particular there are a few records of
extralimital Whip-poor-wills in the west that the AOU supplement implies are of
unknown species. And I don't have much information about the status of the two
Winter Wrens in most of the western states (or didn't have time to dig very
deep) so that needs to be sorted out a bit better.

Thanks!
