These were found by my former co-worker and yesterday I went out with him and
another former co-worker who had a real camera and got much much better pix.
These (there are three) were just venturing out of the nest onto nearby
branches. Two older juveniles, getting primaries and still downy on their heads
were on branches over the water. At least four adults were around them. We
observed them for nearly half an hour. The young woman, Michelle (Missy) La
Vone Richardson, is getting serious about birding and wildlife photography in
general and is starting a blog. She asked if I knew a heron expert she could
talk to for a blog post. I thought I'd throw that out here. Ping me if you want
the exact spot.
