Ruben Stoll, Beth Schilling and I started out this morning before daylight at
Busseltown Unit of NWR in Decatur County. We were looking for Nelson’s
Sparrows and Yellow Rails. No luck after lots of walking. Habitat is
excellent but an enormous amount of territory to cover. There were a number of
Le Conte Sparrows
After lunch Beth and I went to Britton Ford NWR to try to find the Nelson’s
Sparrow that Robert Wheat reported two days ago. We feel like we found the
small field along the road near the end of the road leading out to the boat
ramp at Swamp Creek Rd. My eBird marker is on the field we walked. We found 2
Nelson’s Sparrows, a LeConte’s and a Marsh Wren in this small field. Took no
more than 10 minutes to cover plus a half hour to chase down the birds.
