[TN-Bird] Nashville Purple Martin roost

I finally got back to watch the martin roost in Nashville this evening. About
730 pm local time, there were about 100 martins and a cooper's hawk flying
around while a couple drunks walked the streets. At 7:48 there were 50-60,000
martins flying around with thousands already in the roost. After about 50,000
birds had gone to roost, a gentleman from east Nashville pulled up with his
grandson. We chatted about birds while watching the martins. He's been
watching the roost for a few years.

I counted about 75,000 birds coming to roost and the sky still had a couple
huge clouds of birds. There were still birds flying around after it was too
dark to see them anymore (I heard them calling in case you were wondering). I
could see some birds diving in through the lights over the billboards.

My eBird total will be 90,000 birds, but I think 100,000+ purple martins is
realistic. There were many more birds today than any time I watched the roost
last year.

Local logistics - the old blue warehouse that was demolished is being replaced
with a big new building. There is only parking on the street by the signs that
say no parking from 5pm to 7am. Metro drove by again and didn't say anything
to me.

Good birding!
