On Saturday, September 30th, the annual Nashville Fall Count was held. Overall numbers were lower than in past years, but total species was higher than last year, with 132 species tallied. Waxwing, Robin and Blackbird numbers were way down. Highlights include: Bald Eagle - 4 (two routes) Broad-winged Hawk - 100 (96 in two kettles in Cheatham County) Merlin - 1 (Bell's Bend) Peregrine Falcon - 1 (I-65 @ Harding Place) Laughing Gull - 1 (Old Hickory Lake) Eurasian Collard-Dove -3 (two routes) Least Flycatcher - (two routes) Scissor-tailed Flycatcher - 2 (Rutherford County) 22 species of Warbler - Magnolia, Common Yellowthroat and Tennessee most counted Lincoln's Sparrow - 3 (two routes) White-crowned Sparrow - 1 (Rutherford County) White-throated Sparrow - 1 (Cheatham County) Bobolink - 1 (Cheatham County) Thanks to all who participated!!
