The Nashville Chapter of TOS Annual Christmas Bird Count took place on December
18, 2021 on an unseasonably warm, foggy, misty day. Forty-nine faithful
birders covered the 9 areas as best as conditions and time would allow counting
77 species.
Waterfowl species and numbers were notably low with Bells Bend having the most
species overall. The dominant species of the day was American Robin with over
26oo individuals counted. Most notable birds of the count was a Sedge Wren and
Gray Catbird both found at Bells Bend. Only two species of Warbler were found,
Palm and Yellow-rumped and only one Purple Finch was found at Owl’s Hill.
Many thanks to all area coordinators, all participants and to Scott Block for
compiling the information efficiently and quickly.
And don’t forget our second ‘lake’ bird count to take place on January 1st. If
you’re interested in participating or want additional information please
contact Richard Connors at didymops07@xxxxxxxxx<mailto:didymops07@xxxxxxxxx>.
Cheers!
