Birders, Eleven members of NTOS gathered in the cool morning today to cover some of the 324 acre Hill Track, owned by Friends of Warner Park. We were led by Ed Gleaves, Warner Park volunteer. The previous owner never allowed logging and the hills and valleys have magnificent old trees and beautiful fields. There are varied stands of oaks and hickories plus lesser numbers of poplars, maples, walnut, persimmon sassafras, mulberry, and others. We only birded a portion of the property. At the barn area, birds were plentiful. Seen were: Canada Goose 2 Wild Turkey 30 Black Vulture 2 Turkey Vulture 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 Downy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 1 Pileated Woodpecker 2 Blue Jay 7 American Crow 25 Carolina Wren 4 Eastern Bluebird 32 American Robin 22 Northern Mockingbird 2 European Starling 30 Cedar Waxwing 30 Field Sparrow 1 Common Grackle 250 House Finch 1 American Goldfinch 4 Total - 22 Species Linda V.
