Richland Greenway Nashville-Davidson Co TN Saturday 09 April 2011 Fourteen birders joined this morning's Field Trip sponsored by the Nashville chapter of TOS. Richland Greenway in West Nashville provided a nice mix of habitat that produced 44 bird species on a fine Spring morning. Highlights included a singing Hooded Warbler in the parking area, a very vocal Brown Thrasher that, although out in the open, proved difficult to find for several minutes, a very colorful and loud White-eyed Vireo, a Prairie Warbler high in a tree, an Eastern Kingbird, and a lone Canada Goose, firmly planted on her nest along the creek bank. Perhaps the most interesting sighting was a pair of Cooper's Hawks working with a nest in a tree on the golf course. What seemed odd was the fact that one bird was an adult (male?) and the other was a juvenile, the larger bird. (female?)
