Today Jeff Cowell and I discovered a Mute Swan while birding the Bells Bend area of N Davidson County. The bird was with a flock of about 50 Canada Geese, and I would bet is a wild bird. It was seen on Cleeces Ferry Road which is a short spur west of Old Hickory Boulevard heading toward the Cumberland River about 3 miles north of the river. There are a number of large ponds or lakes west of Old Hickory Boulevard and it was originally feeding in a field with the geese, and then flew into one of the ponds. The only other bird of significance today was a Loggerhead Shrike which was perched on the fence east of Tn840 beteween I-24 and US 41.
