2-20-15 Rutherford Co. I just went to the dump in Murfreesboro to try and see the Iceland Gull. I was away the week that it was being reported and I thought I would take a stab at it. The managers of the landfill asked me to post this to TNbird to notify everyone on the list( he already knew what TNbird was) that he doesn't recommend trying to view the Gulls on Landfill rd because it is very unsafe. Big trash trucks drive very fast on that road and it is kinda dangerous to pull over and get scopes out to view the Gulls. He mentioned that the road is public but the sides of the road are private property and doesn't want anyone pulling over there. I think that he is upset about the recent activity with the Iceland Gull. He also mentioned that it is never ok to go into the dump itself to view birds and he mentioned pressing charges to anyone who ventures in. He said that some recent bird watchers had driven off the road within the dump and got stuck. He recommends that there is no safe place to view the birds around the dump and it would be illegal to view them within the dump itself. He was nice, but I am sure that he is serious about this. Thanks Chris Agee Smith Co. =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER==================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
