Yesterday when Ron Hoff left a voice message on my iPhone about the Wheatear,
the iPhone provided a text version of the voice message. The iPhone
interpreted Ron's "Wheatear" as "Week Deer". This got Lola and me thinking
about the origin of the name. Google's answer was that it was a 16th century
linguistic corruption of "white" and "arse". So when you see that white rump
in flight you know the rest of the story. Thanks again to Tony King!
