I noted 41 species today, most seen or heard in Birchwood at the Cherokee
Removal Memorial Park or the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge (Meigs County) or at my
home, also in Birchwood (Hamilton County). Highlights included:
- Northern bobwhite quail - a mail and female crossing Blythe Ferry Lane
onto the HWR (the 68 acres near the CRMP)
- Prairie warbler - heard near the same area as the pair of quail
- Black-&-white warbler - FOS for me - CRMP ramp
- Black-throated green warbler - CRMP ramp
- Palm warbler - several - CRMP ramp
- Yellow-rumped warbler - CRMP ramp; I had several on my peanut butter suet
feeders at home this winter, but they've been gone about 2 weeks.
- Wild turkey - in my yard
- Summer tanager - male and female on peanut butter suet log in my yard
- Great crested flycatcher - heard at home
