Sept. 14, 2003
Shelby Co. TN

This morning I had one Wood Stork flying east, across I-240 west, at the Wolf
River. I saw no activity over Loosahatchie Bar on the Mississippi RV and
found only 1 bird at the Horn Lake ditch across from the Corp of Engineers on
Riverport Rd, but I wasn't through.

I went to the pits and a little after noon saw some birds kettling over TVA
Lake. They were storks and I counted 47 in the air in 2 groups. I noticed some
dropping into the area across from the Corp again and drove down and watched
the birds still coming down along with an Osprey circling overhead. I could
count 55 Wood Storks at that time but some could have been hidden. After
getting
a little lunch and another couple of hours with the Wind Birds at the pits
(more on those later) I stopped again and this time counted 72 storks.

After leaving I went to Mud Island and saw no storks but did have 4 Caspian
Terns and another Osprey. Looks like this front brought some birds with it.

Good Birding!!!
