Feb. 20 -21, 2010 Tunica, Co. MS I spent most of Saturday and Sunday overseeing Air Traffic Control at 4 roost sites in the fields around the Tunica Co. Landfill. The gull traffic was quite heavy with 6 species of gulls seen. Ring-billed, Bonaparte's and all 4 age groups of Herring Gulls were present along with both immature and adult Thayer's and California Gulls plus a 2nd year Lesser Black-backed Gull. Again distance and on Saturday the clouds made for poor photos plus the birds would come in and sit down in the middle of the thousands of Ring-bills making for even fewer and more difficult opportunities.
