Yesterday (February 18) afternoon at around 2:30 pm I saw a Merlin at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee. The bird was initially perched in the top of a tall spruce tree, but moved around several times while I was there. I last saw him at around 4:30 pm when he chased a crow briefly then flew over a hill and out of the cemetery. I checked again this morning (Feb. 19) from 8:30 am until around 10:15 am and did not see the bird again, however based on my experience yesterday he could be easily overlooked. I have posted a digiscoped photo taken yesterday at http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/phoxinus02/my_photos under the album labeled etx-90 (that's the scope I use). I'll try to locate him again later today.
