Merlins are on the move. Following Scott's report yesterday, I had
one this morning (3 April) here in Knox Co.

Birding from home along Black Oak Ridge in west Knox Co early this
morning, I decided to scan south along the ridge with the scope and
immediately got on a line of 5 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTs.

Later things were slow in the yard so I decided to again scan around
and picked up a small falcon in a treetop. At 60x I was able to pick
up enough details to confirm it was a MERLIN. Eventually it flew off
headed north along Ball Camp valley.

Not a bad way start to the day.
