Started early on President's Island Only birds of significance were 3 juvenile Scissortailed Flycatchers on a wire, and a flyover of 5 BB Whistling Ducks Next stop: Mud Lake Water level was quite high as I had expected, and access to the viewing area is difficult Nevertheless, I managed to obtain good scope views of a female Anhinga perched in a tree top There are no wading birds present At Ensley, 3000 (?) shorebirds seen, 90 % Pectoral Sandpipers Also present were good numbers of Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, a few Semipalmated Plovers, Lesser Yellowlegs, Solitary Sandpipers, and after much searching a single Western Sandpiper. (Breeding Killdeer and BN Stilts seen in numbers). No sign of the Fulvous Whistling-Duck, but it was seen earlier this week, and is likely still in the area. Cheers Terry Witt Murfreesboro Tn
