Eight Black-bellied Whistling Ducks still spend part of their time at TVA
Lake, two more were seen off of Riverport Road and the slough off of Coro
Lake has dried up so no birds were found there. I also think I know where the
birds are resting when they move off the lake but a very difficult area to
see into.

Evidently the Blue-winged Teal are not doing too well in their nesting
endeavors as two of the females have rejoined the 3 males. Maybe the third hen
will bring off a clutch but the water is going fast. We need a summer rain.
Seven Ruddy Ducks, 6 male and a female are still hanging out at Robco
Lake, maybe one day we will get a few young. Robco has always held a few over
summering Ruddy's; this species is famous for spending their first summer
south of their breeding grounds. They are breeding south of us on the fish
ponds in MS and AR, so why not here?

While driving by the Memphis Pyramid on Front Street, I noticed a group of
birds sitting on a wire; 4 young Western Kingbirds were quickly joined by
an adult carrying food. You have never seen so many wide open beaks and
fluttering wings. Time for a few group photos. That makes 17 nests in Memphis
and adds a seventh area where I've found Western Kingbirds nesting in town!!

Good Birding !!!
