Brandywine Island is a geographic anomaly. The 12,000~ acre island is
located in the southwest corner of Tipton County, but on the west bank of the
Big River. The island is accessible by road only through Mississippi
County, AR. 10,500~ acres are privately owned and managed as a hunting,
fishing, wildlife management and resort area. The owner is anxious to
attract birders to the resort, so they invited the Memphis chapter to hold a
field trip to the island last Saturday, Oct, 5. Eighteen chapter members
attended. The weather was perfect.
