Yesterday morning (Feb. 6) while fishing in the Beaver Creek arm of
Melton Hill Reservoir, I heard and then saw an osprey-early migrant or
winter resident? As the osprey flew off to the north it began pursuing
an adult plumage bald eagle. Both birds quickly disappeared over the
ridge northeast of the Beaver Creek embayment. I moved up the reservoir
later but failed to relocate either of the birds. On the way back into
the Clark Center boat ramp I saw nine Bonaparte's gulls.
