Charlie Muise, Allan and I visited the pond in downtown on the greenbelt on Sunday. We had intended to go for a longer walk but got distracted trying to identify a dragonfly (it turned out to be an "alternate plummage" Prince Baskettail). We did see two birds of note: 2 BLUE WINGED TEAL and 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER. Otherwise we had the usual suspects. None-bird species included a SOFT SHELLED TURTLE. There were numerous damselflies but we didn't have the field guide so we skipped them. Dragonflies included: mating Black Saddle bags, White Tails, Window Skimmers, Pondhawks, Blue Darner. I'm probably missing a few...dragonflies are definitely more Charlie's area than mine.
