Got to the "Pits" early today and found the flats swept clean and a large,
adult female Peregrine drying out in the top of a dead tree. It took 3
hours for even a few of yesterday's birds to return but new species did show.

I photographed a group of SEVEN BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING DUCKS flying in
from the south and then found SEVEN pale, western type WILLETS which rested
and slept all day in one tight group. I also found SEVEN WESTERN KINGBIRDS
in 4 locations today and photographed the HYBRID - female WESTERN KINGBIRD
/ SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER coming back on territory, in the company of her
Western Kingbird spouse in north Memphis. Her tail is really unique this
year, wider fork curved outward.

A pair (m-f) of Wilson's Phalarope was new for the day and both
Long-billed and Short-billed Dowitcher numbers were up with a total of 24
birds.
Spotted Sandpipers were everywhere, some sporting bright, orange-pink breeding
bills, maybe breeding here again this year. More Bobolinks today. Photos
later.
Good Birding !!!

What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens.
