Yesterday late afternoon Phil and I drove over to a farm road near Tellico Village to see if we could find any Dickcissels or Bobolinks. We didn't. But, we were excited to hear at least 2, maybe 3 Bobwhite Quail and saw and heard many Chats, Indigos and Eastern Kingbirds. Driving further down the road, we found a pair of Loggerhead Shrikes sitting on a barbed-wire fence (where else), near a couple of small trees growing in the fence line. Perfect habitat! We didn't see any prey on the fence, but didn't wish to disturb them, so we drove past without stopping. Our TN list is growing.
