Early yesterday morning a pair of Surf Scoters (male and female) were found by
Jeff Schaarsmidt and Dan Jacobson at Chester Frost County Park in Hamilton
County.
They were seen across the lake from the boat ramp parking area which is not far
from the entrance of the park. They were still there after 1 pm when I left.
Other birds seen and heard from the boat ramp area were Redheads, Lesser Scaup,
Mallards, Bonaparte Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, Am Coots, Pied-billed Grebes,
Pine Warbler, Brown-headed Nuthatch, White-breasted Nuthatch, and Red-headed
Woodpecker.

Other duck species were seen if you took the first possible left turn after
entering the park: Canvasback, Northern Pintail, American Wigeon, Mallard,
Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Duck, and Green-winged Teal.
