On Monday, May 22, I took my grandson to Long Hunter State Park's Couchville
Lake, off Hobson Pike Near Mt. Juliet, TN, Southeastern Davidson County. This
area has had Large Numbers of Prothonotary Warblers and I was not disappointed.
I could hear them singing everywhere and got some excellent photos from only 3
feet away from one. It kept following me around almost as though it wanted its
picture taken all the time approaching within about 3 feet of me. There were
numerous Summer Tanagers, Yellow-Billed Cuckoos, and Red-Eyed Vireos in
evidence. I observed one female; Summer Tanager calling with a mouth full of
nesting materials. Here is the list of all the birds seen that day:

American Crow 5
Barn Swallow 20
Black Vulture 1
Blue Jay 5
Brown-headed Cowbird 10
Carolina Chickadee 30
Carolina Wren 5
Common Grackle 5
Downy Woodpecker 2
Eastern Bluebird 2
European Starling 10
House Finch 5
Indigo Bunting 6
Northern Cardinal 5
Pileated Woodpecker 1 Calling Near Percy Priest Lake
Prothonotary Warbler 3
Purple Martin 40-50
Red-bellied Woodpecker 5
Red-eyed Vireo 5-6 Singing
Summer Tanager 5- One female carrying nesting material and calling
Tufted Titmouse 20
Yellow-billed Cuckoo 5 or 6 calling

Number of Species: 22

This park definitely needs more attention payed to it by the birding community.
