Meredith Clebsch has done it again! At about 3 pm today she called with directions to locate a second shrike for this week. This one was in our bins by 3:40 pm. The bird is in the area of Loudon Co. where Axley Chapel , East Tellico Parkway & National Campground roads meet. On the former rd. about 0.25 miles from the a/m intersection there is a gravel driveway to the right going up hill through a grassy field. The shrike was first spotted in the nearest dead tree to the right of the gravel driveway. Then it flew to the top of metal fence posts over to the right. The next time we saw it was in the top of a large Tulip Poplar tree across the road . There we watched it devour a large insect, after which it began to preen ! Fabulous week thanks to Meredith!
