January 2, 2006 Friends of Linda Northrop, Having been in touch with Linda's family this evening, I have reason to be a little more optimistic about her condition tonight than would have seemed possible twenty-four hours ago. However, the family cautions that any optimism must remain guarded. It appears that Linda's kidney difficulties diagnosed yesterday may have been the result of a reaction to medications rather than outright renal failure. Today she has shown limited signs of kidney activity and has sometimes been awake and lucid. Her condition has remained stable, but she remains in intensive care, and her situation is still critical. I'll provide more news as it becomes available.
