September 15, 2006 -- Lots of movement the last couple of days. One Olive-sided Flycatcher (the adult) was still around yesterday, but no sign of him today. Just since yesterday the tanagers have flipped -- Summer has been the most numerous, but Scarlets are suddenly the most common as of today. Red-eyed Vireos seem to be thinning out after a major influx in the first half of the month; meanwhile there's a White-eyed ("Brown-eyed") Vireo in every bush. Numbers and diversity of warblers are ramping up, with the season's first Black-throated Green yesterday. Plus a late singing Whip-poor-will before dawn today, and calls notes from the first Wood Thrush since July.
