On Saturday, June29, 2002, I made an excursion to Clingman's Dome in hopes of finding an Olive-sided Flycatcher, but to no avail. I arrived shortly after 6am to the sound of many singing birds but no Olive-sided. The only unexpected birds were singing Least Flycatchers among the beach trees on the Dome Rd about 100 yds west of the Fork Ridge trailhead which is about half way between Newfound Gap and the Dome. I didn't hear them on the return trip from the Dome at 10:30am. Other birds included: E Phoebe (1) Bl-c Chickadee Red-br Nuthatch (1) Brown Creeper (1) Carolina Wren (1) Winter Wren Golden-cr Kinglet Veery Am Robin Gray Catbird Cedar Waxwing (6) Blue-hd Vireo (1) Chestnut-sided Warbler (the death of the firs has opened up much more habitat for them) Black-thr Blue W (1) Black-thr Green W (1) Rose-br Grosbeak (1) Indigo Bunting Ruf-s Towhee Song Sp Dark-e Junco (no red crossbills) Pine Siskin (10) Tom Howe 228 Spruce St Alcoa, TN 37701 tdhowe@xxxxxxxxx =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
