At least one of the Least Bitterns found by Morton Massey yesterday is
still at the Heritage Center Greenway this morning. Gail noticed the sound
of one at 9:11. Mike Ryan and Eric Bodker also heard it with us. After
several minutes, the sound was about twice as loud. Either that bird moved
closer or a second bird sounded. Gail and I arrived at 8:00 but the sound
did not begin until 9:11. We heard the fee-BEER call of an Alder
Flycatcher once and saw a flycatcher fly. Roger Kroodsma saw and recorded
one yesterday.
The location for both birds today was about half way around the paved road.
