I was out on the deck before heading to work doing my morning yard bird count when a group of 12 gulls popped up over the ridgeline. But, instead of the usual Ring-billeds, they were Bonaparte's Gulls! They continued on up the ridgeline to the northeast. Only the second time I've had Bonnies from the yard. The other was several years ago when several were picked out of a group of about 1500 gulls making the daily 20-mile flight between Ft Loudon Lake and the Chestnut Ridge Landfill in Anderson Co. Nice addition to the Leap Day checklist.
