Carver's Gap on Roan Mtn
A Cedar Waxwing nest with two large nestlings was seen by participants of
the TOS Fall Meeting. This date is 5 weeks later than the late date provided
by the Tenn Breeding Bird Atlas (pub. 1997). The record high temperatures
this month and a bumper crop of mountain-ash berries may have played a
role in this late nesting.
