[TN-Bird] Re: Large Kettle, Blount/Knox County Line: cranes?

Sandhill Cranes frequently kettle as they catch thermals, as about 300 were
doing while heading north over my house on Feb. 17. I was going to say
"sounds like cranes", but they're generally quite loud--such that I heard
the flock from inside the house and ran out to view the spectacle.

Subject: [TN-Bird] Large Kettle, Blount/Knox County Line

Yesterday Feb. 16, 2011: A large kettle of large birds (approx 100 birds or
more, not vultures) was moving north/northeast along the Blount/Knox County
line following the Tennessee River and should have moved over West Knoxville
and into Anderson County between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. Did anyone see the kettle
and if so was a confirmed  I.D. made?

Jim Human
Blount County
