Hi All, On Sunday, May 5, a male Sissor-tailed Flycatcher was sight-ed in Lake County, in northwest Tennessee. This morning another male sissor-tail was seen very close to the original sighting. This could be the same bird. Today's encounter was on Tiptonville Ferry Rd. two tenths of a mile north of the Bar Rd. intersection. The GPS grid is N 36 23 46-W 89 29 42. DeLorme info is page 47 at A-4.5. There are two mounds of debris at this location and each is marked by a stick with an olive drab cord atop them. I watched this bird for an hour. He hunted from both sides of the road. When he was on the east side his perch was low, less than two feet. On the river side, west, he would be on bare branches in trees close to shore. He also hunted on the road. I never saw him go to a suspected nest site. On a different note, congratulations to the Memphis chapter of TOS for a superbly ran spring meeting. How did y'all get all those birds there?
