Ron Hoff and Dollyann Myers just called with a report from Cherokee Dam...

4 Long-tailed Ducks
14 White-winged Scoters
8 Red-breasted Mergansers
~1000 Bonaparte's Gulls

They just arrived so there may be more news later.  They were scoping from 
the Jefferson Co side of the dam at the cove mid-way on the main park road 
between the picnic area / park office and the turn-around parking lot.

Glad someone made it up there to check things out... always a great spot 
in winter.  If you go, I also recommend checking from the Grainger Co 
side of the dam.  Ron and Dollyann had not made it there yet but often an 
even better spot for birds.  If you cross the river below the dam on Hwy 
92, take a right at the gas station onto Lakeshore Dr (Hwy 375).  The road 
quickly takes a sharp bend to the left with a church and cemetary on the 
left and two access roads on your right about 10 yards apart.  The first 
paved road is restricted access now and gated by TVA.  The second is a 
TWRA boat launch ... a gravel road that can be hard to see as it drops off 
rather steeply down the hill.  That's the one you want.
