Greetings TN-Birders, Over twenty birders met this evening at Cedars of Lebanon
SP for a tour of the native plant garden and a trip to the nearby cedar glades
to search for nightjars and owls. Linda's garden tour (and garden) was
wonderful, as expected. I'm always impressed with her knowledge of native
plants and gardening. The garden was dripping with color and teeming with
wildlife. The nightjar trip wasn't as birdy as I'd hoped, but everyone still
seemed to enjoy the trip. We heard all three nightjars and briefly saw a
nighthawk or two. Hugh Barger thought maybe all the nighthawks were at the
Nashville Super Speedway, hawking moths under the huge lights. Seems as good a
theory as any. All in all, a fine night of birding. Thanks to all who came out
and a special thanks to Linda Robertson for leading the garden tour. Check
Lebanonbirding.org for upcoming events. Hope to see you all on our next field
trip!Justin Nation
