[TN-Bird] Kyker Bottoms Last Sunday

Sorry for the belated post.  Lola and I enjoyed a beautiful sunny day at
Kyker Bottoms on Sunday.  Even though the area was not open past the
observation areas until March 1, we saw some nice birds from the several
observation areas and pull-overs. At the paved parking lot off Big Gully
Road we had our best birds.  We had a large group of Tree Swallows that
moved through the area with a Sharp-shinned Hawk soaring with them.  The
Tree Swallows were focused on some aerial mating maneuvers that were fun to
watch.  At the blind, looking almost directly across the shallow pond, we
had a red phase Eastern Screech-Owl in a wood duck box located at the edge
of the woods.  There is a different wood duck box located in the pond.  The
box with the owl is behind and slightly to the left when viewed from the
blind.  The owl was enjoying the sun and sat dozing in the afternoon light
giving us great looks with the scope.

-          Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1

-            Eastern Screech-Owl - 1

-          Song Sparrow - 12

-          Swamp Sparrow - 1

-          Tree Swallow - ~200
