This morning (Tues 4/15) I heard a Hooded Warbler singing in the woods near my
yard in Knoxville, Knox Co. First of the season for me. I've been outside
quite a bit the last 4 days and hadn't heard much in the way of warblers, so
this was a treat.

Also, late yesterday evening (Mon 4/14), around 8:30, I was out moving mulch
when I heard an odd bird calling from high overhead. It was dark with the sun
well down but moon was bright. I eventually located the caller, an Osprey
way up high, gliding along with much shaking and fluttering of its wings,
constantly calling an almost robin-like call (quality was different than usual
Osprey screeching, much softer, less harsh). In a few minutes a second Osprey
came along, not quite so high up, calling less continuously, but doing the
same wing-flutter thing and clearly responding to the first. They kept at it
'til at least 8:45. Reminded me of the evening display kingbirds sometimes
put on. Most interesting.
