I offer the following as my first submission to your fine list. As a new "birder" I was very pleased to find this valuable resource. Sincerely Bob Howdeshell Maryville, TN Kingston Steam Plant – July 12, 2008 I spent the better part of the day roaming the ponds and wooded areas of this fine birding area. While a July day is not for everyone (temperatures in the 90’s) and there is a good deal of walking involved, with very little shade to be found …… the areas around the Kingston Steam Plant are a fun place for me! I have posted some photos of the birds that I saw in this one day (listed below) I apologize for the quality of some of the images – Sometimes a brilliantly sunny day is not a photographer’s best friend. Many other birds were heard or seen, but I did not get a chance to photograph them (i.e. Bob white quail, numerous LBB’s (little brown birds), barn and tree swallows, etc.) There were butterflies and dragon flies o’plenty as well.
