Ran out to Kingston Steam Plant in Roane Co., TN on Saturday morning to try out my newly-repaired scope. The inner optics had a grease smear that had progressively gotten worse making viewing almost pointless. Kowa did the repair under warranty in about 2 weeks, only cost was shipping. Came back like new. Anyway, not much happening at Kingston but did find 11 LEAST SANDPIPERS and 1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER in with the Killdeer on the main ash pond. All the Least and the Spotted were adults in breeding plumage and presumedly one their way back south. There were some young Killdeer running around as well. The habitat at Kingston seems to change every time I go there. Most of the willows around the main pond are gone and the fields along the road are grown up with several tall saplings. Probably as a result, I neither heard nor saw Willow Flycatchers or Grasshopper Sparrows.
