Saturday morning, April 28, about 25 birders visited Sharps Ridge in Knoxville. The temperature was between 50 and 55 degrees, and there was a little bit of rain late in the morning, but it was a good day to be up there. The frost we had earlier in the month has left most of the taller trees with dead leaves - and so no caterpillars are present as food for migrating birds. Luckily the shrubs and shorter trees are mostly green - so we had some great looks at birds normally found high up in trees - like Blackburnian, Cape May and Cerulean Warblers. I didn't try to count individuals, but I record below numbers for some of the birds.
