A big thanks to the 16 people who showed up for the walk yesterday. I was
ambitious & got there at 6:15am for owls & woodcocks. It paid off as I had a
few woodcocks, wild turkey, eastern-screech & great horned owl. The rest of the
crew showed up around 7:30. We were treated almost immediately by a beautiful
white-crowned sparrow, an eastern meadowlark, a pile of ring-necked & red heads
ducks. The group amassed an impressive 64 species on the day. The highlights
were a pair of pintails, american black ducks, several purple martins, american
wigeon, & tree swallows. Other notables were 6 of 7 woodpecker species, 7
raptor species & a bobwhite. Thanks again for all who came out. Please check
our new website www.knoxvillebirding.org for upcoming walks/events.
