If there are any others out there like me, that DIDN'T see the Ivory Gull
that Jeff found at Pickwick back in the mid-90's, an adult was found today
at West Point Dam, right on the AL/GA state line. Details can be found here:

As this is one of my dream birds, and definitely the biggest regret I have
among the birds I missed during the years I was away from birding, I will be
likely be making a night drive here shortly to be there at first light in
the morning. The bird was seen on the water there very late this afternoon.

On a local note, I spend a few very windy hours around Reelfoot today. I
didn't see the Swans that Nancy had reported. The wind made birding very
tough overall. Highlights were a group of Western Meadowlarks just over the
state line in KY, and a nice flock of Brewer's Blackbirds and scattered
Lapland Longspurs in TN. Searched for a Tree Sparrow, but as expected didn't
have any luck today. The south end of the lake was practically devoid of
birds, and I didn't bird farther around.

Good Birding!!
