[TN-Bird] Immature Broad-winged Hawk & Others At The Honors Golf Course

    Saturday afternoon July 19 from 5:15 until 8:15 PM, Kyle Waggener and I 
birded The Honors Golf Course in Ooltewah. We found 48 species. Earlier in the 
day I had seen Turkey Vulture, American Crow, Red-winded Blackbird & Common 
Grackle to make the total for the day 52.
    Most interesting was an adult Broad-winged Hawk with at least one immature 
of which we got good looks. In fact it was "Immature Day" as we saw adults with 
immature Killdeer & Eastern Phoebes also.

     We also got very good looks at a male and female Blue Grosbeak and male & 
female Orchard Orioles. We watched Tree Swallows feeding nestlings who were 
sticking their heads out of a bird box. This is about 3 weeks later than I have 
seen Tree Swallows with nestlings here before. We could not find 
Yellow-breasted Chat although they nested here this year for the first time 
inside the golf course. Now that most nestlings are out of the nest, many bird 
have become much more silent and hard to find. Still we had a good evening.

White-breasted Nuthatch
Brown-headed Nuthatch
Carolina Wren
House Wren
